Default S40 T4 2001 For Sale for Repair or breaking

Caring Home Required for my S40 T4, Y reg, 2001, 100k miles. OIR £500. Full service history and generally in very good condition and well maintained, except the engine has developed a nasty noise and has suspected oil pump or tappet problems, hence forces sale.

Excellent for car for an enthusiast to fix or fit recon engine, or good as a donor car or breaking. Has loads of Volvo extras such as full leather seats, winter pack, 6 cd changer, hands free kit etc and has decent tires, having recently been serviced. Will be disappointed to say good bye to her. Located Cambs area and is car able to drive. Please contact for further details.

Are you sure about the diagnosis, a faulty VVT pulley can make an awfull racket as can a failed alternator pulley.
I'm not sure I'd give up on this so easily.

Take the spark plugs out and turn the starter, does the oil light go out, if so the pump is probably OK.

Remove the cam cover closest to pulleys, start engine and while running disconnect the wire to VVT solenoid, does noise go away, if so its the VVT pulley gone wrong (common fault after 100000 miles).

With engine off, check alternator pulley, is there any movement to or away from alternator, if so the pulley needs replacing (common fault after 100000 miles).

These checks cost nothing but could save you a few bob
