Wheels locking on snow and ice, No ABS light
Scanning the forums I see all the ABS issues being the ABS light is on with no other issues, or intermittent problems. My 2007 V50 recently lost any sort of antiskid while driving on snow and ice (wheels just lock up) but I do not have any warning light and the computer is giving me no codes. Where should I start looking?

Start at the beginning. Does the ABS light even work? Has the bulb blown? Ensure it lights during the initial panel lamp test during power on. Secondly, identify the fuse the ABS uses, ensure that hasn't blown. Bear in mind that Volvo typically chain fuses so ensure another fuse hasn't blown further "up" towards the battery.

I never knew there was a light for ABS? maybe for Antiskid?
I drive in quite a lot of snow and the Antiskid came on when accelerating which is fine and the ABS came in without any light (Thought it was the norm as happened with previous S40) if braking really hard the hazards come on automatically.

If all 4 wheels are locked, the car could just be assuming it has stopped. ABS relies on their be a speed differential between wheels. Ideally you need to do a hard stop on tarmac and test if the ABS is working that way.

V50 ABS Brakes Spongy in the Snow and Ice
It only snows one or two days a year here, but last week I was having fun in the ice with my 2005 V50 T5 AWD. It's had two front brake jobs, albeit my son did the first and I the second this fall, because the car would shake when braking, and it still shakes when braking. Like it has warped rotors, but I thought the hard pulsing was from the ABS. Anyway, now in the ice, if I lock the brakes, the pedal goes to floor, Pedal and stopping seems to be ok when not iced up, tho the pulsing occurs. Could Ice on an ABS sensor/system affect pedal pushing?
