Question MY2019 XC90 D5 Loose Hose

Hi,

I popped the bonnet today to top up my windscreen washer and noticed a hose with a crimped end that was totally disconnected as per the photo. There are no errors or nothing that is an issue with the driveability or functions of the car, so unsure what this is. Any ideas?

It's below and between the battery and airbox on the right hand side of the engine.

I tried to push it back onto the male end, but not able to do, so just want to be armed with info before ringing the dealer; assume it is a warranty issue as I’ve never done any work in the engine bay and it's only ever been back to my dealership.

PowerPulse hose. Very common failure.

Thanks! Would that be a cause of much lower than expected economy, even on long runs?

PowerPulse uses compressed air to spool up one of the turbos to provide better acceleration in certain circumstances.

Lack of PowerPulse shouldn't have any impact on economy.

What kind of MPG are you getting?

I wasn't sure exactly where the powerpulse hose was located before I saw the first picture above. Now that I know what I'm looking for guess what....

Thanks again.

About 24-26mpg mixed driving. 36-37mpg driving like an absolute saint with no passengers or load.

Just noticed your posts now have a signature indicating your car is a B5. I was under the impression PowerPulse is a D5-only feature...

In any case, loss of PowerPulse is really only noticeable if you're in the habit of making quick getaways from a standstill. It has little discernible effect on normal driving performance.

Think I'd be tempted to just change the pipe and put on normal screw type clip to hold it on if it's just a straight pipe. Should be easy to get at with air box removed.
