Cool 2018 V60 Polestar - new owner

Hi everyone, I recently took delivery of a new 2018 V60 Polestar in White. Absolutely love the car, but wanted to know from other polestar owners if they received any polestar related documentation with the car?

I recently adjusted the suspension, but i did that based of information from the swedespeed forums. I know from reading a lot of reviews about how some of the polestar things work, but am just surprised there is no official polestar document or manual or anything describing the changes and how to use it?

For example, I recently wanted to adjust the Ohlins shocks as I'm going on a long trip to Scotland (I live in Greenwich) to their softest settings. Yes, i know officially you have to have it done by a dealer, but I like to be able to do things myself. I followed the sticky on the swedespeed forums and found to my surprise that my shocks are 30-way adjustable rather 20 as per most reviews. And i only know which way to turn for comfort vs control through trial and error. I would think they could have at least given a little booklet about what upgrades are on the car and how to use them (incl shocks, brakes, etc..).

Is it just me and my dealer hasn't given me something or is this just how it is?

Congrats. They're a cracking car.

There should be a thin black polestar booklet with the normal V60 manual that has some basic info in it. But there is not a complete, standalone manual. You need to register the car on the Polestar website to get the welcome package that has a key ring and a couple of other p* branded trinkets.

As for the Ohlins, they do indeed have 30 'clicks' but the bottom 10 don't do anything as they're fully dialled out at 20 'clicks'. If you've seen the swedespeed posts then you may have come across the below info from Polestar:

"See below for our recommended damper settings:
Start by turning the adjustment knob to the bottom (clockwise) and then count the number of clicks when turning the adjustment wheel back out (anti clockwise).
S/V60 Polestar recommended damper settings

F = Front
R = Rear
Number = Amount of clicks

Base setting: F10 R10
(the best overall setting for performance and all-year usage)

Dry track: F10 R5
(stiffer rear)

Wet track: F15 R5
(softer front, stiffer rear)

Snow: F20 R10
(extra soft front)

Ice: F15 R5
(softer front, stiffer rear)

Rough roads: F15 R13
(softer front, softer rear)

Comfort: F20 R15
(extra soft front, softer rear)

The dampers don't need to be adjusted by the dealer. I believe the dealer should offer a free initial adjustment as part of the purchase, but as you say it's nice to do it yourself. I've messed about with them quite a bit and have them set a little firmer than normal as that's how I like them (despite also living in London). I've found that the car really wallows when too soft and makes it a handful to drive on twisty roads. But that's just my preference. Play about and see what works for you.

Enjoy the drive up to Scotland. There are some cracking roads to drive up there..

I have an earlier 6 cylinder version; 11,000 miles now. The extra fuel consumption compared to a diesel or the newer 4 cylinder Polestar has no significance, as I only do some 4000 miles per year The road tax is extortionate. totally unreasonable and unfair.

Regardless, I love it the car; just looking forward to some snow so my new 19" winter tyres can be used to full advantage and fun.

I recently thought about the newer 2018 ones; £140 road tax pa. Wow. Then realised that's +£310 for the first 4 years following the first year. Shameful grabbing by the government.

I did orginally look at a second hand car, and the 6inlines do sound fantastic. But yes - agreed the VED tax is nuts

I've got the inline 6. Got some 19" winter wheels also for fun in the snow and road trips..

I went from a 1.9TDI previously so a difference in fuel economy and VED but I knew that when I bought it so not that big of an issue for me. Mine is 3.5 years old and has 26k miles on it.

Previous to the V60, I had a late Mondeo ST220 estate ( 2006; 3.0 V6) virtually from new. Same extortionate VED so I was "used" to it It was actually noticeably worse on fuel than the V60 and a lot slower though ! No squeaks and rattles though @ ca. 80,000 miles . I wouldn't go back.

Default Reduced engine performance

Hello,

I am writing as a new owner of a 2018 V60 Polestar that I purchased new from a Volvo dealer one week ago. The car has only 200 Km on it.

The first night I drove it, it acted weird and has been doing so ever since…

As soon as the engine is in 3rd gear and that it hits 5000 RPM I get a flashing Check light, a Turtle symbol with the «Reduced engine Performance ». At this point, the car slows down and it will not accelerate for approx 30 seconds.

Since, i went twice at the dealer. The service tech reads a misfire code. New spark plugs are on order and will be installed next week.. but since the car is new he is not 100 % that this will solve the issue.

So here I am, aksing for some advice, as I was so enthusiastic with this purchase but I am affaid to drive it!

Iv'e no idea but if it was mine I would take back and tell them to fix it OR swap for a new one as it is not fit for purpose.
