Default Clutch pedal sticking

I own a 2011 V50 and in the past week the clutch pedal has stuck down 4 times while my wife has driven the car the last time was on a busy road which made it quite dangerous. Does anyone have any idea as to what this could be, I’ve been told it’s a master cylinder issue or could be something in gearbox, the clutch seems really light and the bite point high up. ANY ideas most gratefully accepted.

My wife has just mentioned the anti skid light came on on one occasion when the pedal was stuck

It is the clutch slave cylinder sticking behind the clutch ... more of these fail than clutches .

Thanks very much Clan appreciate it, would it be prudent to also change the clutch while everything is out and any idea of what I should be paying.... I’m taking it to the garage this afternoon..

Oh yes, it’s not a cheap repair so I would advise it. The job is labour intensive so getting it all done while the box out is your best option.
