Body/Trim: - Door Locks

Little bit of knowledge needed, I have swapped a damaged door on my wife's t5 and rather than swop the door handles so the key fit I decided to remove the lock barrel and swop them . Got the barrel out of the original door no problem but can't get it out of the new door do you need the original key to be able to remove the barrel. Just seems a bit daft if you do as I would think one of the reasons to change the barrel is you've lost the keys. Thanks if anybody can advise me on this.

Yes mate you would do, as the plungers in the barrel need to retract into the barrel.
