Default P.A.S problems

I noticed a couple of days ago that when steering reasonably swiftly from lock to lock there was either a short-lived tight spot on the steering or there was a judder.
My immediate thoughts were fluid level but that is ok. Belt does not sound as though it is slipping not does it look like it is. There are no visible fluid leaks and the fluid was renew 100k mile ago.

Any ideas? I'm assuming pump or rack!

Replace belt first of all , they can & do slip with no noise , my v70 tdi would shudder when turning quickly lock to lock . NO noise , but cream crackered when removed . All was well after replacement . Always start with cheapest & simplest job before wading into costly & time consuming repairs you do not need

Thanks for that Steve. I forgot to say I have fitted a new belt when I fitted a new cam belt, water pump, idler pully and tensioner 7,000 miles ago in Sept 2019.

Thought I would try renewing the fluid tomorrow.

Is the a by-pass valve somewhere on the system - wondering if that might be sticking.

Default Still have steering judder problem

It only does it now and again; I think it is normally when cold. Just to recap, belt is new and not slipping, I have changed the fluid twice and no visible leaks anywhere.

I am thinking perhaps I have a sticky pressure relief valve. Does anyone know where it is? Is it internal to the pump? Is it accessible without removing the pump or stripping the pump?
