Default [V70R] Nivomat and alternative

Hi,

Some of you alread saw that I'm looking for rear Nivomats of V70R AWD

Due to the facts that:
- They are complicated to find AND in good conditions
- They are expensive delivered in UK / Europe from Viva ($735 excl Tax)

I'm looking for alternatives

I will receive TME springs that will needs Nivomats or equivalent, so change to standard springs and shocks for AWD won't work on that case.

I have seen this .. thing:
Air shocks Nivomat conversion
I know a little bit about air ride etc
It seems it miss compressor and air tank at least!

Does already some of you use that?

Those are Monroe Ride Levellers.
They have no compressor, although a small compressor can be fitted.
They pump up from a compressed air line to compensate for load.

They tend to be used with standard springs for people who carry heavy loads or tow a heavy caravan, etc. Not sure how well they'd manage with a Nivo spring as they are much weaker.

Ok, so you don't think it is a good idea to replace my nivomats today.

Not unless you're going to use a standard spring

Niav

Did you try FRF in Swansea ? Whilst I would not use them if they were the last dealer on the planet I would not wish to deny you the opportunity. I think you should be looking at £650ish delivered ?

Like you say Viva only work out good value if you are not paying the import duty and VAT.

Sides what would you do in Niav's position ? I took the view that Nivos are there for a reason ( not unusual fir me to have a tonne of logs in the back ) and as I aimed to keep the car for 3 years made sense to splash out. This aside strikes me you have all sorts of hassle trying to side step on an AWD.

And how do you rate the XC90 ?

As I'm in France, it won't be easy to push them to send those parts. It won't be a language issue, but lot of people do not like to send parts overseas.

@ Bigfella
What's the beef with Frf... Allways found them excellent with a good discount structure myself.

Personally, I'd try to source a non nivo rear spring and use the Monroes. Prob not easy on an AWD though.
They are very good. Had them on a 940 years ago and that hauled some serious weight.

The XC90...
Lovely, lovely car to waft about in.
Has a drinking problem being a V8, but actually no worse than my fettled S70 T5.
Many electrical things to go wrong, Vida is the best think you can buy for life with a P2 car.
Still love it though

Also wandering what happened with FRF.
Never had a problem with them myself and always found them helpful, but I suppose no business is perfect

I have just received TME springs because I thought I could be able to find V70R nivomat in good conditions...So if I have to change to something else, it is totally money loss.

I have a proposal for nivomat, it is in my search topic. but I'm still thinking to alternative, just in case...

Does it means that monroe shocks from the link above could be used with eibach spring set?

I don't see why the Monroes wouldn't work with Eibachs, as long as they're regular strength springs.

To be honest, the Monroes will possibly need modifying anyway to fit an AWD.
If you now have the Nivo springs, give them a try.
Depending on the amount of weight you carry, you may get away with it.
