Default D24Tics - surely all have the same thermostat?

I've been unable to source a thermostat for my 1988 760 D24Tic. However, PartsforVolvo online have a D24Tic thermostat that they say is only suitable for 1991 940 D24Tics onwards

Surely all D24Tic thermostats are the same, if not does that mean that I can't take the nearly new thermostat from my 92 940 D24Tic to use in my 760??

Thanks

No worries, have now managed to source one and won't have to nick the one out of the 940. Still intrigued though as to why some D24Tics would have different thermostats

I think they are all the same, as regards size at any rate as there is no diference in the blocks or hoses for any of the engines. Was there a thread talking about a higher temperature one i.e. 91 degrees instead of 87?. Could not find any such for a d24.
I have a used one which I think was from the 740, the number is 069121 113, will check it to see i it works.

I assumed the differences must be in temperature but couldn't really understand why. I've ordered one that specifically states it's for my year 760 now Jor but thanks anyway. Perhaps Peter Milnes could have enlightened us as to why there may possibly be different temp ones?

Just found the old receipt for the new thermostat for my 1992 940 D24Tic and that is an 87 degree one. So why would one engine require an 87 degree one and the other an 88 degree or would it not matter if either were put in each??

Hi! It shouldn´t matter it´s probably due to the manufacturer who doesn´t want to make one series with 87 and one series with 88 degrees...

Now your new thermostat should have a little bypass hole in it. I usually drill one more hole of roughly the same size opposite from this hole... this helps alot when it comes to bleeding the cooling circuit...
Have fun!!
