S40 or V50, D2 or D5, R Design / SE Lux (or similar)
I'm in the market for one of these after test driving a couple of S40s, and really enjoying the D5 power under my foot.
A nice D2 would be OK, as it's similar power to my V40, and dirt cheap VED. I tend to prefer high mileage and full service history, but with an eye on cars that have clearly been looked after inside and out. I'm not exactly in a hurry, and my budget is flexible, but with a £5k upper limit. Auto would be nice but I'm perfectly happy with a 6-speed manual. I've seen a couple that were very decent (and sub-£4k) but don't quite cut the mustard, so I'm still looking.
