MAF Questions
The EML light is on my C70 T5.I'm guessing this is due to me previously fitting an oiled panel filter.I've now changed back to a standard filter,& cleaned the MAF with some spray. The EML light went out for a bit,but came back on again so I'm guessing the MAF needs replacing.I'm thinking of getting a used Bosch unit rather than a new pattern part,as I'm a bit skint & just want to get the car running properly for now.
Can someone let me know the correct Bosch part number, does the sensor have to be specifically for a T5,or will any sensor from a similar age C/S/V 70 work? Thanks,Tim. |

Hi Tim,
What year is your car? What is the Bosch part number on the outside of the MAF housing? eg something like 0 280 218 123? Steve

EML on , read the codes first , you may have another reason as to why it triggered . never jump to a conclusion without geting all the facts first . Things get costly & do not always rememdy the cause of EML triggering

Thanks for your replies.
The part number on the MAF fitted is 0 280 218 108,the car is a 1998 model. I haven't got a code reader, but seeing as the light was fine until I fitted the oiled filter,I was going to try another MAF 1st as I've read that oiled filters kill them. Any more advice is welcome. Cheers,Tim. |

Just punch your car registration into Eurocarparts or Andrew Page's website.
Select the part and brand and that will also show you the correct Bosch MAF part number for your car and price for new. You can then use the part number to search for used items. Whilst I appreciate not wanting to spend a lot of money, do realise that any used MAF may not be better than yours as it will also be old, history unknown, may only last 5 minutes etc in which case you're already £40 odd down.

From experience get a second hand genuine one from ebay or your local scrappy - give it a clean with CRC maf cleaner and reseat all the pipes/components.

bad VVT solenoid or wiring to it. Solenoid not specific to engine, any white block with exhaust vvt use the same sensor
