Default Ticking Noise

Just started my T5 after standing for about a month & there is a ticking sound coming from inside the cambelt cover. Any ideas what could be causing this please?

Thanks its a 96 model don't think I have a VVT pulley or a solenoid in there. Could it be a belt tensioner?

Hi stevepcar

If you have left your car without running it for a while, the hydraulic valve lifters can be a bit noisy when you first start, particularly on an older car with high mileage.

Should go away after a minute or so. Nothing to worry about.

How rapidly does it click (how many times per second)?

HTH
