Surely they must be able to supply that at any Volvo workshop?

Try a breaker's yard for a cheap option. These things are rarely if ever used and I suspect are probably common to a lot of models!

Hi,
Volvo specialist breaker. Mail may be costly as they are heavy so see if there are ones near you.. Des. . .

I baught mine from a dealer and from memory it was not expensive and ready for me next day.
I would recommend greasing the threads and fitting it occasionally to ensure it can be fitted when needed. Saw a 40 ton artic lorry being rescued when he had missed a gear and failed to climb a hill. The towing eye was unable to be screwed fully home and when the tractor pulled away the towing eye pulled out spectacularly when the weight came on it. Fortunately copious amounts of duck oil and a big bar enabled the eye to be screwed fully home and the rescue was successful. How many of us would be in the same position of corroded threads on the receiver and unable to screw the eye fully home? Paul. |
