Default 2.0T S60 2007 Recommended performance mods

Have had my 2.0T 2007 S60 for a few weeks now and am really happy with it. Although, I really want more out of it. It's already had a remap and I want to take it to stage 2.

I'm all for getting my hands mucky too and have a fairly decent knowledge about cars.

I have searched around but not many companies make performance components for these engines.

I was thinking, bigger injectors, bigger intercooler. have the boost and fuel dialled up?

The compression ratio on the 2.0T is too high for big turbo power on these engines (or so I read). So I'd say you're pretty much maxed out.

Others have said that it is entirely possible to take the block from a 2.4 T5 and attach the head of your 2.0T to keep the ECU happy. You'd then need a remap to get the engine running right with the T5 block and turbo etc. I am no expert however, this is just what I've read on places like T5D5.org.

I also have an 2008 S60 2.0T (currently for sale) and frustratingly could never find any T5's for sale that had the same level of spec as mine. So I ended up buying an S40 T5 as my "fast" car.

Nobody seems interested in buying my 2.0T, so I am very tempted to use it as a guinea pig for getting a T5 engine running in it. Would be absolutely sweet if I could make that happen.

Those 2.4 T5 engines are exceptionally quick at the top end with just a stage 1 remap. Getting my S40 T5 to produce the same power costs a heck of a lot more and it still looks weaker at the top end. Those 2.5T engines are allow about mid-range grunt, whereas the 2.4 T5 is all about top end power.

I suppose you could also do the same block swap with a 2.5T

So big boost = big boom?

Wish I could've gotten the T5 version, insurance is the killer! I'm 18!

It's currently at 109k, also want the car to last.

My S60 2.0T has had a stage 1 remap as well which helped. A K&N air filter helped a bit more but the blue VXR injectors helped a lot with low down power but not so much with the fuel comsumption. I might be tempted to sell the injectors and filter if you're interested, I'm selling the car soon anyway.

Hi Dave.

The insurance don't know about the re-map! :O.
And well, I assume it's had a re-map. I haven't had anything done to it in my ownership, however it feels ALOT quicker than 180bhp, had a 2.4L V70 with 180bhp

The yearly premium is pretty extortionate, however I'm willing to pay it to have the car! I love Volvos. It's about £1,800/y

FAO DT19, PM me with your email so we can discuss, I'm unable to private message due to post count.

Hi
the other year I was at a dyno day, and there was a s40 2L turbo with a remap and it made 240bhp, it was a very nice power curve, but I think it did need a better intercooler as the power was dropping over more power runs,(it was a very cold day so the air was good,
my 2002 D5 made 208bhp 440NM and stayed the same over the 3 runs,

when I was 20years old I had a ford XR2 MK2, but you did get blown all over the road if there was a bit of wind, as it was a light car,
it is so nice to have a big car as this does not happen,
with your insurance that should come down when you get the no claims discount , and get older (but don't wish your life away, it will happen faster then you think,

keep doing your own work on the car and you will save money on that,
so many take there cars to garages to get work done on them, and pay the price
good luck,
Dave

I was quoted around £1,400 with a years no-claims, which i'll have in October.

And yes, I much prefer working on my own car, I don't trust garages since my first car was made a deathtrap during a gearbox change.

It was a SEAT Arosa Mk2, there's 3 bolts on the underside of the hub attaching it to the wishbone. The garage had put ONE bolt back in, and it was finger tight!
