Front wheel bearing 1999 V70 AWD manual
Hi all
I am going to change the front wheel bearing on a 1999 V70 AWD manual Part number is 272456 eg FAG https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...-s70-v70-c70-1 I will also buy a new central bolt and 4 star bolts. But I noticed on some web sites (Skandix and fcp) that they mention some other parts 9492980 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...r-9492980#desc 30647015 http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts...aring/1025151/ What are they for? Thanks Steve

Steve, As their description says, they're dust seals that are positioned between the end of the driveshaft - driveshaft goes through it - and the rear of the hub carrier.
Apparently they're often missing following "garage repairs"! The ones on my V70 AWD (MY98) were there but pretty chewed up ISTR, so for the cost I would just get them and fit. BTW, they come with a removable insert to cover different size driveshafts. I thought I'd ordered the wrong one when my shaft wouldn't fit through the centre and so ordered another. Then i realised that they both had this removable insert - d'uh. They are just placed on the rear of the hub and the driveshaft face butts up against it and provides a seal around it. Now, mine is an auto AWD and has the old style nut holding the driveshaft in place. If yours is a bolt arrangement, I'd just double check that they were still fitted to later models. Finally got around to taking off a failed front wheel bearing on a 1999 V70 AWD, but am not sure how to fit the seal that bought.
I have a Volvo 9492980 ipdusa calls it a dust seal https://www.ipdusa.com/products/7008...olvo-community Skandix calls it a drive shaft gasket http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts...aring/1023385/ This forum post has some useful pictures and discussion, so I will see if that works https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/fo...32025&start=40 My drive shaft is held in place with the 13mm bolt, not the big nut. If it doesn't seem to fit, I'll fit the new bearing without for the time being. I think it just sits around the stub drive shaft, but the photos show that I should grease it, and shows which way round it goes. If anyone can dig up more official photos or instructions for my car (asap please because I want to do the job tomorrow), I would be very grateful. Thanks Steve
