Default Replacement Key

Hi,

My V40 is preparing itself for a trip to the scrapyard. Poor timing so I'm a bit strapped.

Anyway. I have found a 51 plate S60 2.0T for sale at 160K miles. No mention of cambelt change and Volvo service history up to only 60K.

Comes with one key.

Any idea on the cost of a replacement key?

Alternative is 02 plate S80 S with service history, less miles and cambelt changed. And 2 keys.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I don't know either a S60 or S80 but don't buy one based on whether it has 2 keys or not (extra keys are pricey but buying the wrong car because of it is not a good idea). If one has less miles and a service history that has to be the better bet, BUT all s/hand cars are a pig in a p**e. What's the condition of the vehicle, will it fit your needs, space etc. Do you get a warm comfortable feeling sat in the driver's seat (without a previous user having P'd on it). Go with your gut feel, if it's like mine it will be wrong but really it's all you've got to go on.

Good luck.

Totally understand your point. I'm not basing my purchase on the lack of key. More as a bargaining tool. Also generally curious as to the price. My head is more inclined to the lower mileage S80 with better history. And 2 keys lol.

Around £300 for the key and fob, probably about 1/2 that for the key only
