Default Extended Warranty

Any new car owners out there opt to extend their 3 year warranty? I gather it is cheaper to do it when purchasing rather when the warranty expires.

Given that I plan to keep the car for a good few years, I am considering extending my warranty.

THE EXTENDED WARRANTY OPTIONS ARE HERE:

There appears to be only a 1yr option available although you can extend the mileage. I was quoted £499 for an extra year but with the same 60k miles limit which seems very expensive when makers like Honda offer up to a further 3yrs (and I think a further 60k mileage) for £699.

Modern diesel engines are very reliable but if they do go wrong can costs 1000's to put right. Pitty Volvo don't seem to have the same faith in the longevity of their products as some other makers - particularly when you see so many long lived, high mileage examples about.

That much huh. Perhaps not then. Yes, shame Volvo don't offer a more comprehensive warranty with their products. I just know that when things go wrong, then can go wrong spectacularly.

I had issues with an audi q7, 10 weeks out of warranty. Audi UK did not want to know or support me with any goodwill, in the end I got £100 off a £1400 bill for new air intake mainfolds.

Does anyone know if Volvo are better at giving support when cars are only just out of warranty?

By the way, Audi wanted £1299 for one years extended warranty on my Q7, but that was based on my car which had covered 70k miles within its 3 years.
