Default Volvo Parking sensors/aftermarket bluetooth

I've noticed in my recently acquired S60 that if the car's parked in a tight spot, then I get in and immediately back up to create room to pull out, the parking sensors didn't sound, even though I knew there wasn't much space.

Previous S60 never had this issue, parking sensors were 100% reliable. Both are fully-integrated Volvo sensors systems.

I've now figured out the cause. The newer car has a 'bury' bluetooth fitted, which I have configured to auto-connect to my phone. It seems to mute the speakers for a moment while connecting to the phone, so that it can issue it's confirmation beep. Since the parking sensors bleep through the car's speakers, they get silenced too.

And of course, it also mutes the audio, including the parking sensors, during a call. So if your phone rings while parking, you can't rely on the sensors.

Worth being aware of.

Cool

I wonder which clown at Volvo decided that was a good bit of design!!

Best thing to have on the back of a car (any car) for reversing, is a big meaty towbar. The F'ckers don't seem to want to park too close to them!!

In fairness, I don't think my 'bury' bluetooth was fitted by Volvo, more likely the previous owner had it fitted independently. But I wonder if the 'official' dealer-fit bluetooth would be any better?
