If you look around in the laundry section of your local supermarket among the soap powders, you'll see the small plastic bottles of laundry gel. Find the cheapest biological one. I also use it for 'soaking' the grill pan, pre-treating the kitchen floor when it's a bit ingrained, cleaning my hands after a mucky session on the car... and I also use it in the washing machine! It's very good at cleaning all sorts of things apart from clothes. I got the idea from the tv program "How clean is your house". My next-door-neighbour got his barbecue a darned sight cleaner as well!

Biological washing gel is great stuff but a lot of people will come out in serious 'contact dermatitis' if they wash their hands in it. Its also brilliant for stains in car and house carpets that nothing else will shift

Thanks to Chris and Laney for the advice re biological washing gel, i'll check this out when i'm next in the supermarket. The marks are almost completely out now (although depending on the angle of sunlight i think sometimes still slightly visible). The super-glue remover blemish on the hidden side panel of the dash, as Murrayhouse has observed, strips the finish off the dash, leaving it matt - i'm really glad i did a test before using it on the visible dash area. This can largely be resolved using a neutral coloured vinyl restorer such as Back To Black.
