I had to lose at least (well, quite a few) mph very quickly indeed and it was quite exciting involving a reduction in directional stability and a smell of hot brakes! Let me put it this way, I had just slipped the M46 into overdrive as I was getting to quite high revs in 4th.

So she is doing just below the limit and you were speeding?

Default Ooooooh - SPEEDING!!

Oh four candles. A bleeding holy Joe.

Tell you what, I don't think it's a capital offence, and even in Texas I don't think you are entitled to shoot someone driving fast.

My sainted aunt some mothers do have them!

Selective adherence to the Law. A wondeful attribute!

It's not that no one else speeds. Of course we do. It's just that we don't then announce that someone else tried to kill us, when the obvious facts from the story as told by the OP are such that he wouldn't get a lot of sympathy from the law if disaster had occurred and these were known.

Fact: it's harder to get out into a lane of faster traffic if that faster traffic is speeding. Does it excuse not looking? Of course not. But is it reasonable to announce that she tried to kill you, when if the speed differential had been 5mph or less there would have been no threat? Equally not.
