Default got some mot

It still has 10 Months MOT.
Surely, if you want to sell a car then you'd go down £90.
Could not believe they were selling me it without tax in the first place, that's what peed me off so much. I had expected tax to be on it.
How many more punters are they going to get between now and probably the end of Jan with £7800 cash in their hand!?!

We bought 2 cars from a large dealer group in August. Both came without tax. They were even selling an R Design Drive about £35 a year without tax which was about 14 months old. When I asked about road tax the dealer just put it on top of the cost. No negotiation on either car but we did negotiate £300 off her RAV4 and £500 off my V50. You could try to negotiate more off the car if they won't tax it.

They're playing the hard-nosed game but it's a hardy path to follow.

They tried to do that with my S40D and I just walked out and started to drive away. He came running out the office and stopped me and offered 6 months tax...grudgingly.

I don't think it's uncommon these days but it was the first time I'd encountered it.

All dealers sell without tax but all will come across with 6 months if you ask for it

Equally, I have always removed tax disc when part exchanging because dealer will always claim it if I don't. Apart from anything else he doesn't know how long it is going to stand on the forecourt before he sells it

I've never had a dealer complain about no tax when I part exchange

Default Resale value?

Went to BCA auction today, a 48k 08 plate went for £9400 hammer price! There is Buyers fees on top of that!

I can get a 50k for £9150...it has tax too!

Would you pay an extra £1200 for 20k miles less, no brainer isn't it?

Just thinking about resale value in 3-4 years time? Thoughts all?

Ideally you should change the following around 50k

front wishbones and bushes
MAF
FPS

All of this will add up, getting a lower mileage item may save you esp when you could be due a new clutch and discs if it's a higher mile item.

Watch out for that DPF if it's a diesel.

Default No DPF

The guy said he had got the 4 and 5 the wrong way. I got him to send me a pic of it to be sure!

The 50k has no DPF as it has a 4 as the 8th digit...this is right!?!

It's just alot of money to spend for us with a 2nd nipper on the way.

Was wondering what it would be worth in 3-4 years time.
Also, at the auction - how can traders pay nearly 10k and then make profit on it after?????????

realistically it'll be worth half in another 3 years, but prices are low right now so who knows what will happen.

Keep it, love it, run it - you won't need a new car anyways.

Not sure about the DPF im sure someone who knows will answer soon.

As for the traders they'll just whack 1500 quid on the price (if not more) and hope some sucker comes along!

A Volvo dealer or Volvo UK should be able to tell you from the VIN number if the car has a dpf, and if so, if the dpf is the type as fitted to the V70 which requires no maintenance or replacement, or if it is the cheaper type which requires oil top up at 3rd service and replacement at 75000

Default A DPF or no DPF, that is...

From the link in the earlier post, 8th digit being a 4 means no DPF. If it was a 5 then DPF.
