F6 (7.5A) on the REM is the fuse for the ATM on a 2005 XC90, will be the same for 2004 XC90

Thank you, I'll take another look when I get home tonight. I'll check the fuses again first then open up the ATM plastic cover and try to check for power and stuff.

The top of the plastic cover is sealed to the roof.
Make sure you open it from the inside!

However I would be suprised if the valet people had disturbed the ATM inside the roof - the chances are very small.

You want to focus on areas that were disturbed by the valet people:
What did they open?
What did they move?
What did they touch?

Thanks again, I could see two screw covers on the plastic bit (inside) so I'll start there once I've checked the fuse again.

The valet people washed all the carpets and cleaned under all the seats so it would have been easy to knock something but I think condensation is more likly.

It could just be a coincidence though. I'll keep plugging away and report back.

Regarding the MOST table, when it's a pair / connection block, one side should be lit in the block and the other-side should be un-lite, thus an output from a module to shine into.

Correct:
One cable is light IN, the other cable is light OUT
The MOST bus is unidirectional, so each device is a link in the chain, it receives light on one cable, and then sends light on the other cable

I've now tracked down the problem!! But need assistance on how to correct it.

The Orange fiber optic cable that goes into the Sat NAV DVD player connection block has been snapped. I suspect caught on the metal under body of the seat. One line (in or out, not sure) has been cut through.

Is there any way to connect a fiber optic cable like you would using an electrical connection box?

Technically - Yes, fiber optic cables can be spliced together.

I have done this in a previous life as a Telecomms Engineer

BUT - you need to use a special tool/box of tricks to align both ends of the fiber exactly and then fuse the ends with (I think) an inbuilt (to the box of tricks) laser.

So, unfortunately, in practice, the answer is probably no - unless you can persuade a friendly fiber optic Telecomms guy (BT OpenReach??) to help you.

It's got to be worth an ask next time you see one in your area.

Otherwise there may be specialists around who could do it for a price.

Looking on the bright side, at least you know what the problem is ...

Sorry that's just the cleaver to cut the ends exactly square - the fuser is about 3K

Thanks, I've been improvising and I'm getting there. I've managed to get it all working long enough to test the radio and the Sat Nav, eject the discs etc.

I used a but of electrical wire sheath to push the ends into. Not exactly durable though as as soon as I moved the seat it all came apart.

Yep - I can see that working for a bit - you might be better off with a bit of heat shrink sleeving - Probably available from Maplins or similar

Get some that's only just big enough to accommodate the fiber and when shrunk down it will hold it good and snug

I believe you can also get sleeves that are lined with adhesive which would make it a good solid bond and possibly a permanent fix
