Is it by any chance the infamous dead and corroding internal battery problem that afflicted P2 V70 cars? Or did they change the design on P3?

I had a similar thing on a XC70 I had and it turned out to be a micro switch on the bonnet lock which kept malfunctioning. Took it to the dealer I bought it from and they replaced it and never a problem after that. They said it was not an isolated incident so assume it has been known. It showed up on the diagnostics they did. apparently it needs the bonnet lock being taken appart to get at the switch.

If it doesn't trigger over the next few days I may conclude its other vehicles going by, its a narrow road so may be, if it happens in the reduced setting I will have to look deeper Thanks for the reply Last edited by CTCNetwork; Jun 11th, 2017 at 15:23. Reason: Only one post needed |

Interesting to read this as my alarm has started to go off for no reason, even when parked in a quiet place. I now have to set it with the sensors off using the button on the dash which says reduced guard.
Any other suggestions as to what I should look for? It's a 2008 V70 D5 SE with only 40k. Thanks |

It'll be nice to get to the bottom of it. There's an auto electrician who does some work where my workshop is a couple of times a week, if he comes up with anything I'll let you know. I should see him next week. Last edited by CTCNetwork; Jun 11th, 2017 at 15:24. Reason: Unnecessary quote removed. Use reply not quote. |

That does not sound good does it Not to mention extremely aggravating ! It sounds like the unit, which is what I thought my problem was at first When I looked into it, its apparent its a common problem, there are some you tube videos on it, one suggested about £80 for a unit, another changed the batteries at I think about £20 A pain in the proverbial whichever Last edited by CTCNetwork; Jun 11th, 2017 at 15:25. Take the siren unit out and change the battery. If it still sounds after that then you know it is something else but the battery should be your first port of call.
