Default DPF Differential Pressure Sensor Replacement

V70, 2.4D SE Lux - 2008 - 144k

Hi,

After the last 6 months of random 'Soot filter full messages' I'm pretty sure either the DPF is goosed or the pressure sensor is goosed or both...

The Soot filter full messages have been very randomly popping up and going on even short journeys without a 'burn' taking place over the last week its got really bad.

Last time the soot filter came on really randomly I was 5 minutes from home after a 300 mile round motorway journey at +2200rpm... the 300 mile journey should of burnt all the crap out of the DPF (I though), so it must be a sensor issue.

Having a good read round, it doesn't sound uncommon for the pressure sensor to go fault providing dodgy readings to the EUC to give false 'Soot filter full' messages.

I was thinking to change the sensor and then if I still get dodgy messages then consider the DPF further. (maybe DIY job is this advisable?)

Does the sensor first renewal sound sensible?

Last time it had a diagnostic fault code reading in Feb 2017 - ECM-P245202 flagged - DPF Differential Pressure Sensor Circuit - General Signal Failure flagged up (amongst other things)

Thanks
Rob

Check your oil level as well. If it is above the maximum then the DPF is continually trying to regenerate. You may need to get some oil drained and then DPF problem fixed followed by a full oil change.

Thanks JLR.

Oil level checked and yes it is above the 'recommended fill level' but it isn't above the maximum. Its been stood for 24hr also so the oil should not be in the head.

Thanks
Rob
