Nice looking car .
That has a CVT gearbox , i'd be very surprised if its still ok at over 100,000 miles though and towing a caravan with it would be a no no anyway ..

With a clean and the arch doing it will come up well.
I have not noticed any problems with the CVT it seems to accelerate smoothly at a constant rev, it was a bit lumpy when I got it but new plugs and redex soon seemed to sort it.
Its a shame it has to go but it just is not up to towing.
If anyone knows if a 2ltr is ok for a caravan please let me know. I would like to keep a 440 but would prefer a bit higher spec as this one does not even have electric windows.
Also what do you think of the price?

It's the weight of the car which determines the towing capability really , the 440 is a light car , you can push one along the road on your own quite easily try that with a
V 70 :-) There would be traction problems getting away especialy with a 2 litre 440 . Price is fair but that CVT box would bother me a lot because when it packs up,
the car is scrap :-( An easy conversion to manual though with a suitable doner car ..
I would look at a V40 in that size car for towing ..

I owned a 1.8 V40 a few years back and towed a four berth caravan with it, no problems at all, the 1.8 V40 has 124bhp so has quite a lot of torque for towing.
