Smile Details on splicing a replacement

This is from Woody59 on another forum. It's what I used and it fixed my code problem.

- the green/orange wire is pin 1, yellow brown is pin 2. The connector supplied has the markings for pins 1 & 2.
- if you connect it up wrong, you get a P0013 CEL
- yes the connector supplied in the kit is a pain. I tried using it and kept getting a P0013 indicating it wasn't making the connection.

Here is the very detailed posting link. Well worth a look.

Good Luck

Here is a video i could capture of the noise i hear on my XC70:

http://s813.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=MVI_0896.mp4

It make the noise when engine is hot and the car is off for 30 minutes or so, after many trial and error and a lot of $$$ spent, The mechanic changed the CVVT hubs 2 times, but again the noise is back after a year, it really happens in warmer weather, now he says its normal and all volvos do that!!!!

pls let me know if anyone had any experience with this, it drives me crazy, and it is intermittent so difficult for mechanics to diagnose it...

Default cvvt 1999 v70

Read with interest dicussions of cvvt problems.
Have replace mine with new, with the funky wiring set-up.
I'm still getting the p1332 code, I suspect the connector is the problem.
Has anyone come up with a reliable way to by-pass that useless plug supplied from Volvo?

Default volvo 164

Forgot to mention I'm going to look at a '74 164 with 60,000 miles, been garaged for twenty years. Body and interior are supposted to be great. I can have it for the taking. Should be an interesting project.

If problems return perhaps I should check with my dealer about a software upgrade. The Independent Volvo specialist (Wright's of Norwich) weren't aware of anything though they did say they would investigate. I must ring them to see if they found out anything.

Hi Terry, hows your car going now, did the ECL came back on yet since you have replaced your CVVT solenoid?

They read the codes and told me to change the cvvt solenoid. I did that and the fault hasn't returned after 150 miles.
I guess that was it.

I did have to be very careful assemling the new electrical connector though. I'll do another thread about that.

Smile All good now

Hi Carlomanlutac,

Replacing the CVVT solenoid cured the problem completely. No light came on again. I was very happy!
