Default Child Lock Service Required

Err, more gremlins? The car hasn't even been in for its QAI!

I have the Family Pack on my car and "Child Lock Service Required" warning popped up when I started her up this morning. Nice. Managed to clear the message by de-activating and re-activating, but jeez, there is not enough antacid in the house for all the stress this car is causing me.

Anyone else have this pop up on them?

I'm having the same problem since I received my XC60 in March. More or less a month ago Volvo replaced a part of the rear lock inside the door, but... this Wednesday in the morning I received the same message again. So, I have scheduled the next reparation for 27th July.

The good news is that, despite the service messages, the child lock works well.

I have. a 2007 XC70 with 22000 miles. In the message window I also have the message: "Child Lock Fault Service Required". It used to come and go intermittently. I can reset it, but it keeps coming back. Volvo techs haven't been able to fix it. The power child locks seem to be working fine, but the warning remains. Someone must know how to clear this. Thanks.

FYI, the reparation on the 27th July was carried out and so far no more fault messages. This time the dealer, to be sure, replaced the entire lock mechanism in the rear right door.

Apparently Volvo does not know exactly what causes this problem. Otherwise they would fix in a cheaper way than replacing everything.

I have had this pop up about 4 times in my two months of ownership. A quick switch off and on of the child lock switch clears it every time. I'm happy to do that rather than have the door taken apart (experience has shown that when workshops start to do that rattles breed...and I'm already trying to locate a really annoying one in the front passenger area, so don't want anymore !!).

Just an update if anyone is interested. The car spent 2.5 days in the workshop during which time numerous software update were attempted to clear the fault. Finally, the replaced the N/S power child lock unit. I don't do high mileage but I will update this post either way.

Hi

I had similar problems with a nearside rear ock which would not unlock unless you fiords fhe remote 3 or 4 times. The chilld lock error was occurring at the same time but it appears the n/s lock was physically faulty and the offside had a software problem. Just to male sure, the dealer replaced both locks and no probes so far.

Just to say my mom n dad have the message appear all the time, had a part replaced and reset etc.

Still happened then they had both door locks replaced.

Still happens now about 2-3 times a week.

The main dealers have been open with them and they have no idea what the problem is.

Shame its taking the edge of a nice car.

Any ideas anyone

Just an update.

Volvo have addmitted there is a problem.

Their software in not quick enough to register that the child locks are ok - therefore the warning pops up prematurely.

There will be a software update once they have sorted one.
