I tow an Eldiss Avante 556 and it came with a Winterhoff stabiliser. My previous caravan had an ALKO stabiliser. Been very happy with both without any problems. I would just buy the cheapest that was available locally.

I fitted a alko aks 3000 to my van, bit over kill but can swap it to bigger van, never any trouble from it. Not had a winterhoff so can't comment

I have used both over the years and there isn't a lot of difference between the Winterhoff's and the Alko's, but one or the other are a must in my opinion if you tow a caravan.

If they are a must how do you fit one or other to a 1967 cheltenham caravan ?

Point taken, but I don't think I would like to take your lovely Amazon and Cheltenham outfit down the M1 at 65mph ! ! ! But I would a modern twin axle and suitable towcar.

We have a period stabiliser and tend to tow at 50 on A roads and high 50's on the motorway which makes for a relaxing journey at the start of our break . Although I agree these new stabilisers are great they can only be mated to the newer lightweight chassis , heavy old ones like mine need major modification . But when you think the set up we have is the same set up they would have had in the 60's & 70's and it was the best thing since sliced bread to them , well it's good enough for us . The big thing with towing a caravan whatever type of stabiliser you have is loading it correctly .
