I bought a 6" puller from Screwfix for not much a while back and it does the job!

I find that heat helps me more often than a puller however, so I spent a bit on a quality blowtorch that's serviceable, lights automatically and works at all angles. It's a Rothenberger Superfire which can take their Propane cans but also MAP, which burns that bit hotter and really does sort out seized nuts etc. Think I paid £70 with my first can of fuel but it's fantastic. Just don't ever store the can attached to the burner!

£10 for a litre of propane, I buy gas at 25p/l
Rothenbuger are onto a winner.

Anyway, job done
Cut a keyway into the bearing race with ordinary angle grinder, placed cold chisel there, whacked a few times, bearing moved...got it off. The whacking cracked the bearing.

You don't hammer the shaft, you use a cutting disc to cut two slots it the bearing then using a sharp chisel hit the bearing casing between the cuts and it breaks it off.
If you can hit a stub axle hard enough t misalign it you are either the worlds strongest man or the stub axle is made of cheese.
