Replacing oil pressure gauge flex hose...
Hello! First post here.
I just got a 72 P1800ES that needs some work. Access to the end of the oil pressure gauge flex hose at the engine block seems tricky. Who has replaced this hose and do you have any tips/suggestions to make this easier? Thanks in advance! |

No easy way to replace it. I take the oil filter off, even then it is hard to reach the end fitting. Cut the fittings off the hose and use a length of hydraulic hose with hose clamps as a replacement

Yes, it is a fiddly job and virtually impossible without removing the filter. If the filter is fresh it can be refitted but beware of dirt The braided flexi hose is readily available so best to fit that. A hose with clamps will always be second best and vulnerable to being damaged by the exhaust. Clamps would need to be good for over 80psi on cold starts and as the hose ages, the clamping action will reduce.
