The USB & iPod Music Interface can be installed on your S40 with Performance Sound level, provided the chassis number is after 456691. It can be installed DIY, after installation you'll need to take the S40 to a Volvo dealership to setup the MOST software to recognise the new interface devices.

later 2007 models onwards. Pre 2007 then there is no USB port in armrest as they werent that popular back then.
Either Volvo job which will cost you a good few quid or an aftermarket kit like the Parrot MKI9200 which is bluetooth as well so hands free etc..I have a thread on here with pics of the install. Approx £160 exc fitting. Rgds J |

Go for Dension gateway 500 and this will allow you to use your steering wheel controls etc, it works with alot of cars that have fibre optic sound systems.

Hi Jonnieb, I googled and read posts on info on Dension Gateway 500. It would only work with s40 2004 – 2006 models and sound system that with a CD changer.
Cheers! |

Hi
What year is your car? If you still want functionality then its a dealer job. Unfortunately with the floating console, fibre optics and software there is not alot you can do other then to buy dealer parts. If you dont want the functionality of the steering wheel or console then an aftermarket kit like Parrot works fine. You can still use your radio etc independently to the Parrot. Rgds J |
