Exclamation Transmission fluid...quick answer appreciated

Hi,

I'm going to be doing the usual preventative maintenance on my new to me D5.

The handbook says BOT 341....other info say JWS 3324. I'm confused to say the least, especially as BOT 341 seems to be for dual clutch cars.

The car is a 2009 plate D5 but 2010 m/y as far as I can tell as it's the 205bhp (some idiot registered it on 31st December LOL...the 1st owner was not happy!)

If anyone can point me to the right product (say, Opie oils, that would be fantastic).

If is should be JWS 3324 and not BOT341 then this?

If it's BOT341 then http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-73990-mo...y-wet-dct.aspx

Volvo changed the spec on the 6 speeds not 100% sure of the exact dates of each change but you are right on the change from 3309 to BOT341. This was then discontinued and replaced with Volvo AW-1.

You are right it seems....Some relentless internet trawling seems to show that BOT341 was discontinued and replaced by the AW-1, which has JWS 3324 as an equivalent/alternative.

BOT341 is still available from the likes of Opie but it looks like Volvo changed the spec...so it's now AW-1 /JWS3324: Confusing to say the least!

Maybe I'll just see what Rufe can do the Volvo stuff for!!!

Well nothing is ever simple is it

Having been faced with conflicting information I called Rufe at FRF - I was ordering cam belt, tensioners, aux bets etc etc so decided to check with FRF. They were very patient as I went through the BOT341, JWS 3324 (mis?)information etc and eventually I decided to bite the bullet and order from them as per Volvo recommendation listed against my car's particulars (reg, VIN etc)

It seems that what I'm actually ordering is JWS3309 spec but to be honest I don't really know - when the stuff turns up I can try and cross reference the part number. In fairness he checked and double checked so god forbid it turns out wrong they'll be picking up the pieces!

As always, great service from the guys at FRF.

Yep, FRF is correct. I recently did some research for my 2010 V70 3.2 which also called for BOT341. As I recall, my research indicated that the V70 up until either 2010 or 2011 takes JWS3309 (instead of BOT341) and then they switched over to something different (AW1 I believe). I replaced my fluid last year and all is well with 3309.

Thanks

Everything seems to point back to it being JWS3309 spec, despite the misinformation (BOT341) in the handbook and the equally incorrect information floating around on the internet.
