Default Power steering pump replacement

I have an xc70 from 2008 and i have the famous hard steering issue. Now i am planning the replace the power steering pump and the reservoir. I asked prices for the metal pipes and they are super expensive.
Is it ok to just replace the pump and reservoir without changing the pipes?

It's the pipes you need to change otherwise the problem will just come back again.

What was the price for the pipes?

Labor will be done by a friend who runs a garage, so that will not be too expensive.

I'd do the pipes before the broken down metal does for the rack.
