Default Built in GSM/Sim card convert to Bluetooth?

Hi all,

I'm looking at an early P3 V70 2.4D for sale at the moment, it's a great looking car and I'm pretty tempted but one question I have is whether the factory GSM car phone can be converted to Bluetooth, maintaining the factory controls? I suspect it'd be a dealer only modification but it might sweeten the deal if I could in theory remove the old fashioned GSM/Sim card original built in kit! Ideally I'd like to avoid any aftermarket kits unless there's a neat solution to the problem.

Seems a bit crazy that they were still fitting built in sim cards in 2007 but still...!

Cheers
Steve

Hi,

I believe that the Volvo bluetooth kit was fitted by dealers and as an addition to the built-in fixed phone.
They are, thus, separate systems (from volvo's perspective)...

Des. . .

You'd have to get access to VIDA to establish if the Integrated GSM Module was self-contained and plugged into the centre console and then establish if the factory bluetooth was another module that be plugged in its place or built into the whole console.
Something tells me it might not ever be that simple though...
Good luck!

Stevep

I did a lot of searching on this as I am in the same position.

It's a fruitless search, the modules are separate and dealer fit only, not put even aftermarket from what I have found

Or you can try a SIM card and forward calls, or

You are stuck with the usual options, parrot etc

Cheers
