Had i known it wasn't going to make any difference I would not have bothered. It went back in to check for oil leaks after being resealed and they said its no longer leaking.

I suspect it will become more common.

Mine is now on 121k which also means due for cambelt change which I am not bothering with. If it snaps it snaps and I can move on from this mistake.

You will not see any leaks on the drive as the under engine cover is designed to soak up any oil loss for environmental reasons.
I think you are a fair way past your cambelt change, Volvo reduced it down to 90k!

Interesting! So you didn't have any leakage from an 'end cap'?

The service advisor did hint that it wasn't an uncommon issue on VEA engines, hence why I asked them to check whether I'd get any goodwill on my not-quite 5 years old V60 with FVSH (their computer system can directly check with Volvo UK once they prepare a quote).

I think it might struggle to absorb 3L without letting go of the odd drip?

I know but I just spent 1k and then a cambelt is 600-800 with the original interval at 144k (although the dealer kept telling me it was 108k originally). Oil is still disappearing after the oil leak fix at approx 250ml a week so I am not throwing more money at it. Dealer told me 250ml a week is normal when my 325k mile V70 uses hardly any.

No they didn't report that but some of these dealers are not great at passing on all the details.

I had heard similar from an independent volvo place but they had not attempted to fix any so I went direct to volvo.

True. I did think mine should be showing a few drips but its quite clear now the oil is going elsewhere.

Volvo anxiety now increased! Got some long continental hauls this year. Note to self, lay off the Volvo forums for a while
