My 03 S80 is running ahead of it's service intervals. It has been serviced yearly in disregard to the mileage, so I had it serviced at 80000 as per the 11 year or 132000 spec. I requested the cam belt be checked as there was no indication it had been done. Long story short(!) it hadn't and couldn't be done at the time (?). So full 132000 service and MOT £530.00. Then the following week.....cam belt, steering fluid reservoir and suction hose, and oil, £629.70

Worth it? Yes. There's peace of mind, Volvo assistance and back up. Plus the knowledge it should have been done correctly, and I didn't have to get dirty!

If you love your car then give it everything it needs. If you think it's not worth it, take a chance on indie or d.i.y. (I am no good at it myself, so for me, no choice!).

You literally pays your money and makes your choice.

Just flushed my auto box with this stuff
http://www.millersoils.co.uk/automot...435&sector=Car
Took 22ltrs to turn it back to cherry red! however the difference is like night and day, much smoother now.
Cost £4.30 a ltr
No filters in the box to change
I was going to have the gearbox software updated and adaptions but after reading a few post from people who said their gearbox changed awful and started to flare between 2nd and 3rd afterwards I decided not to bother as mines nice and smooth anyway.

I have to say that I quite agree with you. I was bloody chuffed with my years free breakdown with Volvo Assist, and i've already used it 3 times since having the car serviced in January. Very helpful and friendly.

I am lucky though, that my mate works in the trade and can get the parts from Volvo trade price, so I always supply my own genuine parts and just pay labour at the dealer. Saves money, especially as I could never see the 'owners club discount' on the invoice!!

Oufff, does sound a tad 'heavy', but thats Mainstealers for you. You have piece of mind and for that I don't blame you at all.

In UK I always used an Indy. The one I used, I was actually sent to by the mainstealer in Fareham (now gone). I was looking for my first volvo and on explaining my max budget, I was sent to the local indy, who took their 'older' part-ex cars.

Since being in France I've gone DIY on the whole. No indy (not nearby anyhow) & many local garages only really know the french cars.....

Gotta say my most 'modern' is a 10 yr old V70 which I'm sure would benifit from a proffesional 'once over', but that price is just over 1/2 of what I paid for it, lol.

Good luck.
