Default Rain sensitive wipers

My problem is my wipers work on their will ,sometimes fast then slow ,then not at all till I give them a little nudge .will fitting a new stalk cure the problem or is the problem elsewhere?

The wheel thats controls the intermittant speed also controls the sensitivity of the rain sensor, I only found this out recently and I've had the car nearly six years!

Mine sometimes goes a bit mad and I just jiggle the wheel round a notch and then back again. Just seems to be one of those things. If you've had the windscreen changed then they may not have used the special gel that ensures the sensor makes good contact with the glass.

I would echo the above post. If the windscreen has been changed then the sensor may not have been put back properly and needs a special adhesive. It is a common issue with all cars with rain sensing wipers.
Another solution is to pull the cover off the sensor, up ahead of the mirror, and unplug the sensor wire. Put the cover back on and leave it disconnected. The wipers will then operate as a normal variable intermittent system. The adjustment wheel lengthens or shortens the delay between wipes.

They're a PITA IMHO.

I never use mine. No need to disconnect anything on my version as a have a on/off button on the stalk.

I thought all of them had this?

In OFF mode they just work as normal wipers
