V70 MY2000 2.5D Classic 226k For Sale
Hi all,
Time to sell the much beloved Classic.... Photos are HERE: I have MOST of the service history, but to be honest, I didn't anticipate needing to keep it as I thought we would just run it until it died, so there are a few holes in the history since we've had it. I can tell you about it though... Funnily enough, it's still going! Our ownership story is as follows: purchased in January 2013, as we wanted something bigger and I wanted a truly classic car - the V70 P1 definitely fits this category! Since then, I've put on plenty of miles and kept up with it's needs. However, as it gets older, it does need more care and not being a mechanic means garage bills start to add up! Specs: Manual Towbar fitted at 195k - single electric. Also has a bike carrier attachment (bike carrier included) Leather Front and rear fogs Full size spare with almost unused tyre. General V70 awesomeness Full set of carpet mats in OKish condition. Phillips stereo with MP3 input OR Original Volvo Stereo (tape/CD combo) I will also be including an extra set of alloys, which I've used for winter tyres. Before we had it, it was serviced regularly. It had a new exhaust about 6 years ago and belt changes at 70 and 140 before I had them done again at 209k. So, work I've had done (from memory - will have as many receipts as possible when actually on for sale: Jan 2013 upon purchase: New engine top mount New front drop links New O/S/F check strap and re-welding of door New discs and pads all round New handbrake shoes General service New rear suspension top mounts During 2014: Service & MOT **New Timing belt & genuine water pump** (thought we would be keeping it ages at this point!) New rear shocks New rear suspension coils (heavy-duty ones from PFV) New N/S headlight unit Remote locking module fitted (purchased from minty!) New tailgate struts Diagnostic work on poor starting - ECU not reading temperature/glowplug information correctly - This still happens - no fix (except for a little bypass button on the dash...) During 2015: Service & MOT - failed on emissions and a few other bits. Had work done and passed. Advisories remaining - O/S/F shock leaking (apparently) - I think some brakes hoses are on the advisories as well. New Front discs and pads In addition, it's got a couple of broken bits of trim in the load area. It also needs a new heater matrix which I might do before a sale! Also, the 60% section of the rear seats will not secure in an upright position - I havent butchered the trim to get to the mechanism so have left it as is. Haven't needed all seats since then. In short, it's getting too much for us (pressure from my wife!) now and we'll need to move on. As the title says, it has almost 226k and rising (I do 280-350 a week). It rides well, starts fine and carries the kitchen sink. I don't have to sell it to you. It is genuinely a pleasure to own and I will be sorry to see it go. I also think it's on the original clutch, which may or may not be a problem to you. I'd like £700 ono, as that would cover the cambelt and water pump work last year. If you're interested, please get in touch. I'll listen to genuine offers. I will be in touch with dealers to see if they'll knock some off as a p/x when I get a new one, but it's unlikely...! In terms of timescale, it's as soon as possible. Collection from Sheffield, or, if it works, we could drop it off when we buy a new one (from wherever that may be). Lastly, can I say that this forum is a good example of how to do forums on the WWW. Helpful, patient and very very informative. Thanks all.

OK. I've been offered £300 in p/x from dealer, which given it's now making a funny noise from N/S/R brake, turbo not activating (ECU/MAF problem? - no smoke) is prob a good deal.
Unless anyone can offer more than £300, the great scrap heap calls. EDIT: Will be getting rid of the beast around 16/17th of Sept, so not long!
