Default Looking at 1999 V70R Phase 2. What are they like

As in the title, I have come across the above car that is for sale in the region of 2k. Are they a disappointing relation in the R line-up or worth a punt?

The car I am looking at is in decent condition, but will need a radiator and a steering rack repair.

Default V70 Ph2

You may be better posting in the V70 Ph2 section as this is for the Ph1's.

However, my son had a V70 Ph2, which he got rid of last year due to various problems, and we both agree that my Ph1 is better with regards to reliability (but his Ph3 is even worse!).

Having said that, there is a noticeable improvement in the ride quality and the sophistication / driver comfort through the range where my Ph1 has a quite hard where the Ph2 is must softer and the Ph3 is like a "magic carpet" by comparison.

Make sure you check the gearbox if an auto...they seem prone to problems.
The one I had previously would not reverse uphill...

I may be wrong but surely any 1999 car has to be a phase 1 not phase 2.

My personal opinion is a good T5 will be nearly equivalent to a V70r probably for less money and without the rack problem.

Ernie, you're correct. There was three versions of the "classic" shape V70R, AFAIK the last version was the 265 bhp version with the twin exhaust pipes. How's the mirror?(met you at the services a few years ago to help)

Is it a disappointing car in relation to the 'R'.

Mate, its 2grand. Try and find a good R for that.
