Default Interior lights stay on with drivers door closed

1998 V70
When I close the drivers door the interior lights stay on. I have already experienced a flat battery due to this happening. The only way I can get them to go off is if I bang the door closed really hard. There doesn't seem to be any sort of door pin that pushes in when the door closes. I asked around and was told that I need a new lock. Any suggestion gratefully accepted. I have disconnected the footwell lights and switched off the remaining interior lights for now.

i have the same problem

i have tracked it down to the switch in the door lock but have not been able to find time to take off door trim and investigate

word of caution the light on the door below the lock will also be on when the door is shut also draining the battery so for a short term fix disconect this also as i did not and it kept draining the battery when the car was left for a while

hi, where is the answer to the tailgate problem? what page?
just bought a '98 v70 tdi and has battery drain and a tailgate light constantly on.
is it just a case of inspecting the wire passing the strut and if no luck swapping the lock/actuator?
thanks
