Discountcarstereo.com out of the US, they have a few Volvo stereo bits.
If your handy with a soldering iron there is a tutorial on matthewsvolvo... but for the cost probably easier to order

Dippy,
These are the cables I had in the 850 SE I scrapped a number of years ago after the head gasket gave way. The CD changer I had was the Alpine version (hence the adapter); the long DIN cable runs under the carpets through the cabin to the changer bin in the boot of the car. I stripped these out in case someone else might find them useful. I don't have the CD changer or the head unit anymore but I think the head unit was a 701. Not sure whether these will mate up with a later head unit. If they might be of use to you drop me a PM. Looking for £30 posted. The cables were working when I took them out of the car and have been on my shelves ever since. Happy motoring Alan |

Looked on the site Stumo posted about[thanks for that]found an adapter but it says for vehicles 1984-1995 and not for 1996> Can anyone confirm/deny whether the cables Mr.Thirsty has will fit as his are from an 850 that had a 701 headunit where mine is a V70 with 805 headunit.?

The cable/ plug is the same for all P80 radios (SC xxx). Not a year thing..
That picture looks like what you want. That box was a generic thing so the makers just needed to change the plug for many makes and modules. The US store adapter is just a short connector with plugs on either end - smaller and more make specific. The propriatry Volvo plug has two nodule locators on the metal shield of the plug , that’s the only difference between alpine and Volvo plugs - you can ‘encourage’ an Alpine plug into the radio, but we do things properly here - less trouble more reliable

I think the 1995 cut off might be when they went from single DIN CR series to double DIN SC series. I do have a CR stereo in the shed, if I get time tonight I'll see if I can make it work with the changer that's currently connected to an SC801.

It's a CR 906 I have, I tried it just now and it did work with the CD changer, so that cable should do the job for you.
