Default V70 '06 door seal failing

I have an 06 V70 D5 which I bought in January, just 63k miles (genuinely one previous owner, an old retired bloke who never did more than 8 or 9,000 miles a year).

The seal on the driver side of the body is now pretty rotten and on the passenger door side it's starting to go. It's not the seal on the door, it's on the body where the door meets the car.

Is this serious and can it be fixed pretty easily? It seems to be held onto the frame very tightly and I'd hate to bodge it up and scratch all the paintwork trying to get it done myself, but I'm loth to ask a dealer to sort it out.

Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

The seal on the body can be easily be removed as it only pushes on, if you give it a good tug it will come away, you will have to remove the trim piece at the bottom of the door to get the seal off and the new one on. This can be easily removed as well you just need to pull it up off the clips.
I don't know what Volvo will charge for new seals , when I did my drivers door I got one from a scrapper.

Question

Here is a step by step guide for you;

It's a really common fault and easily fixed, it's about £40 for a new seal I believe.

I had the same problem on my previous 2 New V70's after a couple of years ownership - and now my old 2001 XC70 is developing the same problem. I don't think its a flaw in the seal (the old one was fine when i got the car 2y ago) I put it down to me brushing against it and rubbing it (heavily) everytime I get in and out of the car - i.e. it is wearing away !

Ace! Thanks for that.

I bought a pair from Volvo Breakers in Huddersfield for 40 quid, one for the driver's side (which was pretty badly worn - and it isn't just down to fatsos like me rubbing against it, by the way, because I only noticed mine was going when it started to drop down from the top of the door) and one for the passenger side which is only just starting to go, but I thought I may as well get it done at the same time.

Just done my door seal, the one on the door not the chassis. This seems good stuff for securing it http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3603152239...84.m1439.l2649 You have to thoroughly clean the area first for best results.
