Default S60 Android connection.

Help me make the most of my Android and my S60's fantastic sound system.

I hear talk of the USA SPEC CB-PA85 iPHONE/iPOD Iphone adapter but I don't really understand how it works and if it'll work with my Android phone. Also, is it expensive to install as I am hopeless with electronics? I'd really appreciate a little input form someone in the know. Price is a factor.

Car is a 2005 D5 lots of kit including the excellent sound system which just needs more connectivity...please, have pity...my CD collection is pitiful.

For USA Spec PA11 (at least), the lead is iPod specific but as I recall has phono sockets so you could have any input you like. I've got one lying around somewhere which I'm planning on selling so I'll have a look. Not too tricky to fit if you're fairly competent with basic tools.

Thanks for that. Let me know if you're getting rid.

Check out a GROM audio adapter. I love my Nexus 5 Android phone and this works a treat. I also just leave an 8Gb USB in place

I've looked at it yes since you suggested and I'm tempted. Is it easy to fit as suggested on the site and did you buy it from the US?

I have a GROM AUX-3 adaptor on mine. I figured that any clever USB connection might be rendered obsolete in the future (for example, Apple moving to the new connector leaving loads of old docks broken). So I opted for the plain old 3.5mm audio jack input: guaranteed to work with everything, although this sacrifices steering wheel control of the phone.

In respect of that I got a Brodit proclip install; I've fitted a cradle over the centre air vents (the driver's side one).

Sound quality is excellent, phone doesn't move, job done I reckon.

Thanks for the replies. I read before that I'll lose sound through the subwoofer on the dash. Can anyone confirm??

The grom was UK origin, from carputer shop I think, just Google grom UK. The centre speaker is fine with it

The centre isn't a sub, it's full range :-)

.. I can also deny. With my grom aux input, all the speakers and audio modes (2ch, 3ch, dolbybpl) all function like ever before with every input. Radio, cd or phone :-) now if you replace the entire head unit then you may well lose the centre speaker as aftermarket head units typically are only four channel. That might be where some of the confusion originated.
