Tamper proof? That's not my experience. I must have re-set 20 or 30 of those brake faikure switches without needing a replacement. Am I that lucky?

Well.... I found a retired Volvo mechanic who lives very local to me.
On inspection , I have now got a shopping list of new calipers and pads all round and a handbrake re-build kit.
I have decided to cosmetically refurbish the front and back suspension while the wheels are off. There is a possibility that I may fit a I.P.D sway-bar kit to stiffen things up a bit.
Looks as though I can get one from Holland.
Doing the job next weekend , so hope the weather holds out as my garage is pretty cramped . I will keep you informed of the brake rebuild .

Not really. Later models don't have the sensor anyway. Volvo replaced it with a fluid level sensor on the master cylinder.

Completed the brake re-build yesterday. In good weather for a change.
All went well with new calipers/ pads/ discs on the front and calipers /pads and a new handbrake cable on the back.
The pedal has a bit more travel than I would like and will bleed the brakes again when the pads have bedded in.
Just got to fathom out the pressure balance switch resetting .( the one under the master cylinder) .

I'm pretty sure all you need to do is remove the switch, which allows the valve to reset, then put the switch back in.

No, no fluid should come out.
