Default 850 seats in a 164?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Volvo-seats-...0AAOSwgQ9Vz3KN

Just saw this listing. Looking at the pics, it looks like the front seats used the original 164 frames. I don't know anything about 850s, but I'd be shocked if they have the same lumbar support knob on the side as a 164, which I see in one of the pics. I also think this is why the bottom cushion doesn't fit perfectly.

The back seat sure looks like it fits nicely, but would it really use the exact same attachment system as a 164?

Anyone have any clues how these were made to fit into this car? I know they sure look like damn comfy seats.

Have posted this on a couple of the US Volvo forums, but gotten no replies. Maybe everyone's as stumped as I am? Thought I'd give you chaps across the pond a wack at it.

Looks interesting: I see a couple of 164s in the sellers pictures, and they are in fact fitted into a 164 (window winder a clue) so dimensions can't be a problem. Can't answer the seat frame question until I look at my Amazon-owning friends 850 but these look more like 240 base frames.
Will now go and compare my 240 with my 164 to start comparisons: should have done that before replying I suppose....

Forget any reference I made to 240 seat bases - have just checked and nothing like it! Thats what comes of forgetting the 240 after driving my 164 yesterday. I looked in my 164 and they do indeed look like those in the pic, but somehow don't look high enough off the floor. Perhaps those in sellers pics don't pick up on 164 runners or mounts at all?
I have some black leather 260 seats in my store, also a spare set of 164 seats (split like most go) so will take my measuring stick and camera when I go to pay my rent in the next few days.
Certainly 850 seats would be far more available from car dismantlers than 164 ones (over here at least).

P / Triple-S,

Thanks for the reply. Definitely something weird going on with these. Trying to figure out if they were able to use everything from an 850 and if so, what kind of modifications were necessary to get them into the 164, or if they had to combine parts from each. Sure would be nice if 850 seats were a direct fit into a 164, but I'd be shocked if that was the case.

Let me know what else you come up with.

Thanks!

Stan
