Maybe, maybe not.
The new filter on the Honda clogged after using diesel purge into the tank. I'm going to assume that the tank had some gunge in it, the diesel purge possibly stirred up the gunge in turn blocking the filter.
I can't see how else realistically the new filter got clogged right after using diesel purge?
So I now use it directly into the filter, I'm also assuming that a stronger solution of diesel purge goes through the fuel system, some of it returns to the tank but obviously not all of it.
Both ways work, I did my D5 through the tank without issue but I won't do it that way on a high mileage car again!

You're wasting your time and money doing it this way, trust me.

You assume correctly. You don't want that detergent effect in the tank and pre filter.

The majority will be returned to the tank and diluted with regular diesel and you'll also generate no heat in the liquid itself which is a key part of its effectiveness.

Only one way works and that's isolating the the main fuel system and using Diesel Purge neat in its own mini loop.
Even the manufacturer tells you this.
If there was a quicker, more convenient way to achieve the maximum effect, I would use it and Liqui Moly would recommend it but there isn't unfortunately.

Your method is like having the world's best washing up liquid to clean a roasting tin..... but using cold water.

Interesting points, I will say the old Honda I used liqui moly diesel purge on last weekend no longer has an diesel knock on tick over so it did work on that.
I can easily do do closed circuit on the Honda but ill need a video like the op to do that on my D5.

What about trying Speed Diesel? Looks like it works in a similar way but you add directly into the fuel tank...

I haven't. Just looked on the website to check the instructions on the Diesel Purge and saw the Speed Diesel.

I did an injector test via VIDA. They all spot on. Im having no issues either, its just me wanting to be proactive and do things.

Ill get some of that Speed Diesel and lob some in the tank. It can do its thing while i drive.

Thanks for the tip, Jim.

The cap on the speed diesel tin is a crazy design that won't screw back on securely after you've opened for the first time. The only good thing is that it has a 25ml measuring cup built into the underside of it. Instructions say 25ml to every 10litres of fuel so the whole can will do 400litres of fuel. I've just added 150ml today.... will report back if it works wonders!
