Hi Collinbos,
Could you please let us know how to do an injector test using VIDA.
Thank you.

Load VIDA.

Go to Diagnostics

Vehicle Communications

Click on ECM

Advanced - then checking injectors. Run the test and compare the results against what VIDA says is acceptable re injector adjustment and engine RPM rate per cylinder.

The issue is 55, is that the 185bhp D5 needs a high pressure feed to run the car. Linking a diesel purge without replicating the high pressure system wont work.

Thanks Tho.

I need to visit a Volvo breakers soon for some other stuff so might just see how much for a fuel pump which could be used to build your own closed loop system; just need to work out what I can use for the tank to hold the pump and liqui moly!

Greetings to all, following this up, again has anyone out there worked out a simple method of carrying out a Liqui Moly Diesel purge on 185 D5 yet ?

I want to purge with neat solution (not through the tank) to give the injectors etc a thorough clean, which I know is more easily possible with the 163 engine.
I am fortunate enough to have been running both a 163 and a 185 D5 for some time and have purged the 163 in the past but stumbled when trying to do the 185 at that time, due I believe to the higher pressure in tank fuel pump and associated need for same pressure at the input to the main fuel pump.

Hope above makes sense !

Thanks in anticipation !

Default V60 D4 2015 diesel purge

Hi just bought 1 litre of liqui moli diesel purge.
Is it possible to run this through the fuel pipe system or shall i pop it in the fuel tank.

If I put it through the fuel pipe system directly do I need a pump or can this be done without.

Thanks

Your posting in the XC90 section - the engine in your car was never fitted to Mk 1 XC90 so we're not likely to have experience to help. I think you might have the 4-cylinder VEA engine?

However if you put it in the tank - there is a recommended dose for this and it is a "maintenance" rather than cleaning option. You should not increase the dose as you are likely to dissolve all the crap in the tank and fuel filter and then pass that through the injectors... this is why the prescribed method of using neat diesel purge is to intercept the fuel supply in the engine bay.
