Default V5C Error

I had numerous problems with the dealer when I wa buying the car and they have messed up information about the car's towing capacity to the DVLA.
The V60 has a braked towing capacity of 2000kg and an unbraked capacity of 750kg. The dealer told the DVLA that the braked capacity was 750kg.

I returned the V5C to the DVLA about 5 weeks ago and received a reply this morning. They will not issue a new V5C with the changed description without written confirmation from the vehicle manufacturer. They have included the information provided by the dealer when they registered the car.

If you have grandfather rights on your licence use the stated figure in the handbook. The V5 figure is only applicable to BE licence holders 3500kg train weight, BE+1 is the grandfather rights of 8500kg train weight.
The V5 figure should be the towing capasity assumed to be 3500kg train weight minus the kerb weight of the car. So 3500- xxxx= yyyyy not nessesarily the stated towing capasity of 2000kg in your case.

According to DVLA towing capasity of my XC70 is 1500kg, patent nonsense as the handbook states 1800kg it being a manual.

It's the dealers mistake and I would sit in their showroom proclaiming my dissatisfaction vociferously untill they rectified it.

Paul.

Robbie there's a recurring theme here, it seems there are many Volvo V5's being issued with the incorrect towing mass. My own included.

Have a look here

DVLA would have to replace every V5 for the affected owners?
