Service indicator - will not reset
My 2010 XC90 has been serviced by my independent garage and I have had the service indicator reset. Now after approx 50 miles and 3 days the service light has come on again. Has anyone got any advice on how they can permanently reset the service light? The diagnostic machine was used it resets it temporarily but it has now come back on again.
Any help would be very much appreciated.. Many thanks. |

Try this. I have not tried it, I no longer have that model, lets know if it works.

This was good for the early years, still worth a try. Try to have the trip meter to A and with some miles. The triangle may not flash but the trip meter should reset then go to the previous mileage when the message resets.

I assume you mean the message at the lower left of the clocks (unless it's changed on later models)? If so, what is the actual message? If it's anything other than 'time for regular service' the car is reporting a problem.

Engine system service required. Not sure why it should be illuminated as garage serviced car, they also ran the diagnostic checks and no error codes were found. |

Hi, you need to have engine codes read. This is not a service indicator.
It may go out after a few starts, but there will still be a problem until you get the codes read and sort the problem. For example mine has this message but the codes indicated poor fuel pressure. Mine just needed a fuel filter. Take the car back to your garage and ask them to read the codes. If they cannot read the codes, suggest you need to change garage for one that can. Hope this helps |

That is an engine problem warning then not a service rest issue. It will need the fault code read and fault repairing before it can be reset to stay off.

If its just been serviced check the oil level.
I had the same issue last year and the garage had filled it to the max line on the dip stick, plenty of posts around it. Once I drained the oil and had driven around 200 miles the error cleared. |
