Rear Hatch Not Locking /Unlocking MK1 Estate 1999
Hi I would appreciate any possible advice regarding non locking of fear hatch .
The only fob I had broke a few years ago and I had been locking and unlocking the rear hatch with the drivers door switch .Unfortunately this stopped working a few months ago ( ,although still makes a solenoid type of noise when depressed ) so having removed the trim I'm currently having to climb over the rear seat each time I want to lock and in lock . Any help appreciated . Thank You |

Hi nick123, perhaps I am being thick but have read and re-read your post. Surely all doors and boot will lock/ unlock with the key being turned in the drivers door lock. alternatively lock/unlock the boot with the key. Please clarify. jack.

Are you able to post a photograph of this disc?

It sounds rather like there might be a break in the wiring loom to the tailgate. It's a fairly common problem with the V70. It occurs up in the corner near the hinge and can be intermittent (and annoying!).
"Magnetic disc"? Do you mean the black plastic plug that is under the hinged flap on the tailgate handle? It is just that... a blanking plug and is a hangover from the days when there used to be a lock in that handle.

Hi Many thanks for that ,my disk is silver but the blank would explain this ,I thought it was a magnetic lock but never had a key for it when I purchase the car .Your comments about a break in wiring are interesting .Have you had this experience and what would you suggest ? stripping back the wiring ?.
Thanks Nick |

boot lock
"still makes a solenoid type noise " suggests there is still power to the lock ? first thing i would do,is check there is power at the boot lock .if there is ,maybe you have a faulty lock ?

Mine has never locked-it doesn't have a keyhole just the blank I believe the lock came if you bought the 7 seat version?-I only have the one key and never had the fob, however when unlockinglocking the car from the drivers door the tailgat lock can be heard making a click so I figure it's my lock that's shot which I may or may not get round to replacing at some point.

Rear Hatch Door Lock
Quote:
It doesn't cause a problem at the moment as I always unlock using the (one remaining) fob as it was not until I had the car for a couple of years that I realised that there was a key barrel under the flap!

Instead of guessing I would put a multimeter on the connector at the lock and see if you are getting power through. If so you can focus on the lock itself, if not start looking for breaks in wires or dodgy relays.
I have had breaks in the tailgate loom like many other people so that is a likely place. Joe |
